It's really funny how things have worked out because I have never lived in same state as my cousins on my Mom's side and now me and Gwen live in the same town. My Uncle Larry and his girlfriend Michele came up to Naperville last weekend to see my cousin Gwen and they wanted to see us too. We all went out to dinner and then the next day we went to an Art festival downtown. It was fun to see them. :)
We went to the independent bookstore so we could see the Junie B. Jones book tour and show. It was really cute and the kids loved seeing "Junie" and getting their books stamped by her.
We signed them up for a full week of Science camp. The kids loved it a lot and they were happy to make some new friends and not be so bored. haha On the first day Alexis did (too much) monkey bars and ripped off the skin on both her hands. We had to wrap them for the rest of the week, but she is fine now.
She one of two girls in her class and the rest were all boys. I think her rocket and rover looked better than all the boys'! Girls can do science too, you know. :)
Micah came in before class to test out her rover. He was completely jealous but was happy he got to make a rocket the next day. Her class was Mission to Mars and his was Future Scientists. I think this was a great camp and I want to sign them up next year for more than one week.
We spent a day in the city and even though it was stormy, we had a great time. It was the first time the kids have been to Chicago and they thought it was cool! We stayed around the Navy Pier and went to the IMAX show and rode on the ferris wheel. We will have to do a boat tour when it's not raining.
A cool shot I got right before the storm as the clouds came rolling in.
