Blue Mound Fall Festival

We were able to make a weekend trip down to Blue Mound/Decatur, IL this last weekend. It was the Blue Mound Fall Festival! The BMFF has been a big part of my life and now since we are so close we didn't see any reason to not go. My Uncle Larry and his girlfriend Michele let us stay with them and they were the best hosts. We had lots of fun! It was sad not being able to go across the street to Grandma and Grandpa's house but basically the festival hasn't changed at all. We had the pork chop dinner (that comes with funeral potatoes, green beans, and applesauce) and of course the homemade ice cream for dessert. It was fun talking with some friends and family I haven't seen in awhile. I won this snake for the kids at the dart booth and they rode some rides. We didn't play Bingo, but maybe next time. :)
Here they are on the swings and you can see Grandma B's house in the background.
I walked over by the railroad tracks to get some cool pics of the sunset. :) I have a thing with sunsets lately. I got the train coming by too.

The next day we went to the parade. The kids were ready and had their bags to get lots of candy, and they got a lot! There are perks to a small town parade. :)
Me and S waiting for the parade. It was such nice weather the whole time we were there. Grandma B would have been pleased. :)
This is the type of stuff that came by...OLD cars.
This is a sign that my Grandpa made a lot of years ago that they still use for the Shriners.
My Mom's 45th HS reunion was this weekend! They were represented by a tractor and 6 of the '67 graduating class walking behind it. haha :)
We went to visit Grandpa and Grandma's graves. They still need the dates on them but it looked nice. Oh my, Micah's pose! He has been doing a little hip dig thing. haha
 Another shot of Hall Cemetery.
Alexis with some of her chalk art and Micah and Steven playing ball in Larry's backyard. Notice the lake? I mean lack of the lake? It was all mud! We were sad that it was dry this year that we couldn't go out on the boat. AND the kids got stuck in the mud when they got up early the first morning and went out on it at 6:00 a.m. Steven had to trudge out there and pull them out! They were a mess and had to be hosed off. haha Luckily, all their clothes and shoes came clean after washing them. Larry and Michele took the kids the the country club to go swimming and we got a little bit of a break. Then we had a BBQ at there house and just hung out. It was such a nice low key weekend. I can't believe I forgot to get pictures of them! Next time we see them I will. :)
On our way home. It is still weird to say that! And I still can't believe how close we are to Blue Mound. I have always had to make a trek to visit and now it is only 3 hours away! See you next year Big Blue for the World's Fair. :)

What a bitter-sweet trip!! I am sure it was fun to see all the old sights but sad that your grandparents weren't there to enjoy your visit. Small towns rock!!
