Art Masterpiece

I should have mentioned Art Masterpiece a long time ago! I volunteered to be the Art Masterpiece teacher for both Alexis and Micah's classes at the beginning of the school year. I didn't really understand how much was involved but it was a pretty big time commitment. I was the only volunteer for both classes so that meant I had to come and teach about a specific artist and a specific art piece every month and then have the kids replicate said art piece. It was a lot of fun for the most part, but sometimes it was a lot to take on. Trying to come up with different ideas and think about what medium to use was a challenge. Also, trying to make the artists sound interesting and fun was sometimes difficult."He dropped out of school when he was 14, he was sad and depressed most his life, he didn't get paid for any of his art while he was alive, he lost his sight when he was 80 and died a lonely old man." It can be a little heavy for a 1st grader or 3rd grader. haha
These pics I took while I was prepping for class.

This is from the Art Walk that was held in May. Each class got to display 3 works of art that we did throughout the year. Alexis' class is at the top and Micah's is on the bottom. I enjoyed being in their classrooms and getting to know their friends and teachers better. The last time I was in Alexis class one of her friends came up to me and said "You are my inspiration! I draw flowers at home now." then she gave me hug. Things like that made it all worth it. I guess being an art major (for 1 year) was helpful somehow. :)
