The song this week is Picture Book from The Kinks. Have you heard of The Kinks? I haven't until just recently. Apparently this band was formed in 1963 and has influenced many artists such as The Killers, The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand. I think it has a very "Beatles" sound to it and sounds a lot like what all the indie bands are trying to achieve. I was introduced to this band by Trent Reznor. Yes, Trent Reznor. If you don't know who that is, he is the lead singer for the band Nine Inch Nails. If you know what Nine Inch Nails sounds like, then you know it is almost the complete opposite of The Kinks. (I am a fan of Nine Inch Nails, but will not be posting any songs here, it maybe a little too hard for the family blog...um, yeah) I am on Twitter and and the music site that is linked to Twitter and you can follow celebrities and the music and the playlists that they post, it is pretty cool. I always appreciate it when an artist can like music outside of their genre. Anyway, I hope you like this song.
